Communications & Power Industries Inc. (CPI) originated in 1948 as the founding technology group of Varian Associates. In 1995, the Varian Electron Device Business and its six divisions became CPI Inc. Since 1972, CPI Satcom has been meeting the industry's needs for broadcast, data, telecommunications and TT&C applications with reliable amplifier solutions for all satellite frequency bands. Its customers include broadcasters, network operators, government PTTs, mobile telephony system operators, and system integrators.

CPI amplifiers are used in large earth stations, small terminals, information gateways and mobile configurations commonly used for satellite news gathering (SNG). Its product line accommodates the customer's need for both rack-mounted and outdoor/hub mounted configurations. CPI uplink amplifiers operate around the world in all satellite communications applications.

with over 200 amplifier products in every frequency band and power levels from 25W, CPI offers a large selection. The CPI product line includes traveling wave tube amplifiers (TWTAs), Klystron power amplifiers (KPAs), solid state amplifiers (SSPAs) and a wide selection of accessories. They are available in single thread, redundant and power-combined configurations. CPI also manufactures a line of commercial RF amplifiers for use in laboratory and test measurements applications.
